Michael Appel is chairman and CEO of rue21, a 700-store teen fast-fashion apparel retailer. As president of Appel Associates LLC, an advisor to retail and consumer goods companies, he has served as interim CEO, COO, and CRO for retailers that include Laura Ashley, Baccarat, and Wilkes Bashford. Appel is a past recipient of TMA Global’s Large Company Turnaround of the Year award and a member of the Advisory Board of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Global Fashion Management master’s program.
