Chapter Luncheon - Denver-Colorado's Marijuana Industry: From Bud to Full Flower

Chapter: Rocky Mountain

According to an in-depth data analysis by the Marijuana Policy Group.

The impact of Colorado's cannabis industry on the state is nothing to blow smoke at. Legal cannabis activities generated an output of $2.39 billion in 2015, with almost $1 billion in sales for the year, a 42.4% increase from the previous year. Pot now outperforms all private industries in Colorado, including mining, oil and gas, casinos, business services, general manufacturing and alcohol.

Our discussion this 4/20 will be anything but hazy as we touch on topics including job creation, tax revenues, legal concerns and regulatory hurdles, as well as the industry's staggering effect on Colorado's economic growth

Critical Considerations When Representing Parties in a Municipal Distress Matter
2012 Spring Conference

Are municipalities and special local governmental districts the next major wave of bankruptcies and restructurings? Recognizing the emergence of this new financial distress arena, the thorny topics that panelists will grapple with include: who will be making retention decisions; how best to be positioned for such engagements; the complexities in satisfying the statutory preconditions for filing a Chapter 9; the possibilities for effecting a consensual restructuring without resorting to bankruptcy; the unsettled principles surrounding the criteria needed to “cram down” a plan in Chapter 9; how best to gain judicial support for such a plan; and much more.

Speakers:

  • Moderator: Mark Kaufman, Atlanta, GA
  • Patrick Darby, Birmingham, AL
  • Bill Roberti, New York, NY
  • Stephen Spencer, Minneapolis, MN
  • J. Robert Stoll, Chicago, IL
