Public Relations Planner & Tips from the Pros

Turnaround Management Association Public Relations Planner

The TMA Public Relations Planner was developed specifically for TMA’s local chapters. We have assembled a complete guide for planning, creating, and implementing public relations activities in your region. Each section contains background information to provide the context for each public relations activity and hands‑on tools for developing your own custom program.

To get a current copy of the Chapter Leadership Manual, which contains the PR Planner, please contact Maura Sage at 1-312-578-2043 or msage@turnaround.org. The Public Relations portion can be viewed by clicking here.

Media Policy

In 2000, when TMA established its in-house public relations function, the Management Committee approved policies as a guide to those who participate in media relations. Click here to read.

Brand Position and Standards Guide for Logo Use

In 2002, TMA developed a branding initiative to strengthen TMA’s brand as the "premier professional community dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management." The Brand Position was developed as the preferred wording when TMA is described in TMA Headquarters and Chapter communications materials.

It is:

Short form

“TMA is the premier professional community dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management.”

-------------

Long form (as of Oct. 2003)

Turnaround Management Association (www.turnaround.org) is the only international non-profit association dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management. With international headquarters in Chicago, TMA’s more than 9,000 members in 47 regional chapters comprise a professional community of turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants, investors, lenders, venture capitalists, accountants, appraisers, liquidators, executive recruiters and consultants. Members adhere to a Code of Ethics specifying high standards of professionalism, integrity and competence. TMA’s Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) program recognizes professional excellence and provides an objective measure of expertise related to workouts, restructurings and corporate renewal.

Part of that initiative was a revised TMA logo and a branding guide. This guide shows how to present a consistent visual image of TMA in International Headquarters and chapter materials by applying the proper use, color, and size standards. We urge chapters to apply these standards to all of their communications. Questions can be directed to Dan Goldberg, Director of Marketing and Communications, at 312-578-2042 ordgoldberg@turnaround.org.

Tips from the Pros

Each month, a conference call with public relations chairs and other chapter leaders is held, many times with special guests from the fields of public relations or the news media discussing how chapters and corporate renewal professionals can raise their visibility and stature in the business community. Written reports or recorded calls are stored on the Leadership Web in the Public Relations section.
