Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 – Alan Lepene, Partner, Thompson Hine

Alan Lepene is a partner and Practice Group Leader of the Business Restructuring, Creditor’s Rights and Bankruptcy practice group at Thompson Hine, where he has practiced his entire career and previously served as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee.

Alan has represented senior lenders in cases including Schwab Industries, US Flow, Alterra Healthcare, Land Resource, South Franklin Circle, Deaconess Hospital, and Hauserman, Inc.;  Creditor’s Committees, including Elder-Beerman, Ohio Ferro Alloys, Simetco and Gibson-Homans; and Debtors including Amcast Industrial Corp., GEO Specialty Chemicals, ProCare Automotive Service, Shoe Corporation of America, the George Worthington Co, and Agent Provocateur, to name but a few.

Alan is a founding member of the Ohio Chapter of the TMA and served as a Board member and member of the Education Committee for many years.  He is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, the American Bar Foundation, the Ohio State Bar Foundation, and the Cleveland Bar Foundation.  Alan previously served as chair of the Ohio State Bar Association Banking, Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Committee, the Bankruptcy Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the O’Neill Bankruptcy Institute.  He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his law degree from the University of Michigan, where he graduated Order of the Coif, magna cum laude.
