Akash Amin has been promoted to director at MorrisAnderson. He joined the firm in 2018 as an associate director, working out of the Chicago office, and works closely with the firm’s senior team members to provide financial and operational analysis, business valuations, transaction services, interim management services, and cash flow and budget projections to inform strategic decisions for clients undergoing restructuring and turnaround services. Most recently, he’s worked with clients across healthcare, restaurant/hospitality, agribusiness, technology, and energy industries, and served as the operational manager of a publicly traded healthcare company in receivership.
Lisa G. Beckerman has been appointed as a bankruptcy judge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, succeeding retired Bankruptcy Judge Stuart M. Bernstein. Beckerman was a partner in the Financial Restructuring Group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. She advised on out-of-court corporate restructurings and represented ad hoc groups of creditors, debtors, individual creditors, purchasers of assets, equity holders, and official committees of unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 proceedings. She is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a former ABI board member. Beckerman holds a law degree from Boston University School of Law, an MBA from the University of Texas, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago.
Stretto, a bankruptcy administration firm serving the corporate- and consumer-bankruptcy industries, has acquired Acumen Recovery Services LLC, a data analysis and advisory firm serving attorneys, trustees, and other fiduciaries analyzing, pursuing, or defending preferences or other allegedly avoidable transfers in bankruptcy cases. This acquisition expands Stretto’s suite of services designed to support professionals and other stakeholders in streamlining the bankruptcy process. Acumen’s CEO, Michael Cohen, and president/COO, Dan McElhinney, both join Stretto as managing directors.
Nick Welch joined BDO Consulting Group LLC as a director in the Business Restructuring and Turnaround Services practice in the firm’s Miami office and primarily covers the Southeast regional markets. He has more than 20 years of experience in professional services and focuses on the turnaround and stabilization of challenged companies, stakeholder management, and transaction advisory. His experience spans numerous industries in the U.S. and Europe, including retail, leisure and hospitality, healthcare, renewable energy, and fintech. Welch has helped senior lenders, private equity groups, family offices, and management teams to navigate business challenges and release or create cash flow through debt restructuring, operational improvements, and M&A strategy and execution.
