The 4th Annual Hon. Rosemary Gambardella Scholarship Competition
Named in honor of Judge Rosemary Gambardella, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey and a longtime NJTMA member, the competition is centered around a student's understanding and demonstration of the law as well as adeptness at oral advocacy as they argue a mock case. Education is at the core of NJTMA's mission and we are proud to prepare the next generation.
Held at the Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey, the moot court competition consists of students from Rutgers Law School and Seton Hall University School of Law. The competition focuses on timely issues of bankruptcy law.
Students compete on their own, not as members of teams. The first round of competition involves an essay competition. Four students, two from each school, will advance to the final round and present oral arguments to The Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, The Honorable Andrew B. Altenburg, Jr. and The Honorable Kathryn C. Ferguson, United States Bankruptcy Judges for the District of New Jersey. The final round of the competition will be held at the Rutgers Newark Baker Trial Courtroom on November 25th. The presenters of the two winning oral arguments will be awarded $2,000 each in scholarship money and the runners-up will be awarded $500 each in scholarship money.
The competition will be followed by a free networking event at Barcade in Newark where students will have an opportunity to network with judges, NJTMA members and guests. The reception is open to students, NJTMA members and guests and is sponsored by the NJTMA.
