George Hawley is assistant professor of Political Science at the University of Alabama, and the only Alabama professor to call the Presidential election correctly. His research interests include demography, electoral behavior, the politics of immigration, and the conservative movement in America.
His work has appeared in scholarly journals, such as Politics and Religion, Party Politics, and Social Science Quarterly. He has also written for and been the subject of articles in major newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post.
He is author of several books, including Right Wing Critics of American Conservatism and White Voters in the 21st Century, as well as the forthcoming Making Sense of the Alt-Right from Columbia University Press and Demography, Culture, and the Decline of America's Christian Denominations from Lexington Books.
Hawley earned his Ph.D. and MA in Political Science from the University of Houston and his undergraduate degrees in Print Journalism and Political Science from Central Washington University.
