Derek Pierce is a Managing Director of Healthcare Management Partners, LLC with over 20 years of professional experience focused solely in the healthcare industry. Derek has served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer of numerous hospitals and healthcare organizations in financial distress, leading the successful turnaround of those companies. He is an expert in the areas of corporate and regulatory compliance and forensic accounting related to the defense of civil and criminal healthcare fraud claims or allegations.
Prior to joining HMP, Derek was a Director with Alvarez & Marsal and a Senior Manager with Arthur Andersen. Derek is a graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Ken Connor is a Shareholder and Healthcare Practice Leader of Elliot Davis Decosimo, LLC. As leader of the Healthcare practice, Ken provides assurance, tax, due diligence compliance and valuation services involving healthcare clients. With more than 35 years of experience in the financial aspects of the healthcare industry, Ken has acted as an advisor and provided due diligence support on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He facilitates problem resolutions within a variety of healthcare sectors and organizational structures, including joint ventures. Ken supports clients and their legal teams as both a testifying expert and consulting expert, including transactions, contractual disputes, various 3rd party audits, certificate of need, and managed care.
Prior to joining the firm in 1997, Ken served as the Chief Financial Officer of a large tertiary facility. Ken is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Alabama.
Louis Bass is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center Healthcare System (RMC). He has spent the last 18 years of his career at RMC, being promoted from Chief Financial Officer to CEO in December 2014. Prior to RMC, he worked at Lloyd Noland Hospital where he held the positions of CFO and Director of Finance during his 11-year tenure. Louis is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
Justin Truelove, CMPE, is a Sr. Relationship Manager at Wells Fargo Bank in Birmingham, AL. Having achieved the Certified Medical Practice Executive through the Medical Group Management Association, he delivers the best in class Revenue Cycle Management as a Specialty Business Banker focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. Justin is directly accountable for creating and implementing plans to deliver financial solutions that meet the holistic needs of healthcare business clients and the trusted advisors that encircle them. These often include the implementation of depository, cash management, financial reporting, and navigating through complex credit scenarios. He is actively involved in consulting practices in transition, be it a buy-in, buy-out, start-up, or expansion, and is responsible for being the lead, market level expert in meeting the financial needs of healthcare businesses in Alabama

Her experience covers the public, private, and nonprofit sectors across the healthcare continuum: acute care hospitals, nursing homes, hospice, home health and primary care. Clare is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst). She has a Bachelor of Business Administration/Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honors) from Macquarie University (Australia) and a Master Certificate in Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University.
