Turnaround Management Association Announces New President and Board

The Turnaround Management Association is proud to announce Derek F. Meek, Esq., partner at the law firm Burr & Forman LLP, as 2020 TMA Global President. His term begins on January 1. Current TMA President Jeffrey C. Hampton, Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, will transition to TMA Chair in 2020, and Kevin A. Krakora, CTP, Getzler Henrich and Associates, will transition to Immediate-Past Chair.

Meek is a partner in the firm's Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama, offices and focuses on bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters.

“I am ready to begin my term as president of TMA and am honored by the opportunity. I’ve personally witnessed TMA’s prominence grow significantly in the lives and careers of so many restructuring professionals, and the industry as a whole, and I’m excited to help continue that momentum,” said Meek. “As president, I plan to focus on the relationship between TMA Global and the individual chapters, including our growing international chapters.”

Meek’s TMA involvement includes leadership roles at the local, regional, and global levels of the organization. At his local chapter, TMA Alabama, he served as Chapter President in 2016. At the Global level, he has served in several leadership roles, including Corporate Secretary, Vice President of Chapter Relations, and Chapter President’s Council Chair.

“Derek has been an engaged and dedicated member of TMA for many years, having served in multiple roles at the chapter and global levels, making him well situated for a successful tenure as president,” said TMA Global CEO Scott Y. Stuart, Esq. “We are excited to see what Derek will bring to this organization and are looking forward to TMA’s future.”
