Christopher Okenka has been promoted to Director, Brand & Creative as of December 1. See below for the Staff Spotlight featuring Chris Okenka.
Q: Briefly describe your role.
A: I am the TMA Director of Brand & Creative and oversee the creative direction of key TMA global campaigns (conferences/events, membership, education, etc) and serve as Creative Director of TMA’s flagship publication, the Journal of Corporate Renewal, including the task of coordinating our “Snapshots” photoshoots that highlight TMA members across the globe. I work closely with all internal departments and chapter executives to strategize and fulfill any creative or branded needs they may have that could benefit our members, chapters, and leaders. I also work closely with the marketing and events teams to create exciting and new member experiences at conferences and global events.
Q: How long have you been with TMA?
A: Six and a half years.
Q: What do you like to do when you're not at the office?
A: I enjoy hiking, Pilates, cooking and grilling, and spending quality time with our 8-year-old Spanador, Gus. I also serve on the board of directors for Association Media and Publishing, the only comprehensive organization dedicated to the needs of print and digital publishers in nonprofit organizations, and will be part of the AM&P Executive Committee in leadership roles through 2022.
Q: What is your favorite sitcom?
A: FRIENDS
Q: What is the best concert you ever attended?
A: Tie between my first concert experience, Garth Brooks in the early 90s, and Madonna’s “Confessions Tour” in 2006.
Q: What are you currently watching on Netflix?
A: “The Crown” season 3 – very interesting to see a complete cast change every 2 seasons as the characters age. Beautiful art direction and cinematography.
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?
A: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I have gone seven times in the past decade, and I absolutely Iove trying out different local restaurants each night. It is my personal mission to see how many ways I can eat fresh shrimp during the week.
Q: If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: My friends and family make fun of me because I can talk about food nonstop, but I really could not live without pizza. Cheese –especially melted cheese – is quite possibly the best thing ever created.
