After serving as your NJTMA president for three months I'm beginning to feel like newly broken in athletic shoes, comfortable and ready to run with my new position. Thank you to those of you who have made my transition so seamless. I will work to continue to make our chapter the BEST it can be and provide our membership with the tools and resources it needs.
I'm happy to report NJTMA has met its membership goal for this year and I would like to thank Dennis Bobker, Vice President of Membership for all his efforts . Thank you also to those on the Membership Committee who helped us reach our goal so early in the year and for their continued efforts to grow our membership. In reaching this goal I think we can say our chapter is made up of winners. In the December issue of Engage, the chapter leadership e-newsletter, Greg Fine of TMA Global stated, "TMA strives to be impeccable, a place where the best and the brightest in the industry gather. In short, TMA is the home of the winners." So I urge all of you, winners and leaders in your field, to continue to go for the gold and know that NJTMA is here for you to help you achieve your goals and sprint ahead in your specific field.
Respectfully yours,
Janey Mitnick, Founder and President SM Financial Services Corporation

Summer is almost here and that means we are going Back on The Boardwalk for the 14th Annual TMA Mid-Atlantic Symposium. It is a great honor for me to co-chair the event and represent NJTMA throughout the planning process along with committee members Steve Agran, Sydney Darling, Sharon Levine and Janey Mitnick.
The conference will take place once again at Caesar's Atlantic City and is filled with informative educational panels and networking opportunities. Scheduled panels already include a NextGen/NOW panel entitled Making it Rain, an oil/gas/coal panel and a nonprofit restructuring panel.
In addition, there will be extracurricular activities to choose from such as a luncheon at a spa, a round of golf and my personal favorite -skeet shooting. These activities give attendees a great opportunity to network with fellow turnaround professionals in a relaxed atmosphere, unless of course you are holding a loaded .22 rifle.
The event begins with the keynote luncheon on Wednesday, June 8th and ends with the closing party on June 9th. Last year there were over 300 attendees, mainly from participating TMA Chapters (New Jersey, Philadelphia and Chesapeake) as well as other chapters from around the country and the world! Registration is now open and there are sponsorship opportunities available at all levels.

NJTMA has renewed its commitment to reinvigorate our Network of Women (NOW). On February 1st, NJTMA NOW hosted its inaugural event at the home of NJTMA President, Jane Mitnick. This casual fireside dinner was a huge success on every level. We thank our members who came out for this event and made it so special. Exceptional thanks to Judge Stacey L. Meisel for her support and to Jane Mitnick for opening up her home to the group.
On March 31st, NJTMA NOW co-hosted a Casino Night with IWIRC-NJ to benefit the New Jersey Bankruptcy Lawyers Foundation. We are grateful for the many generous donations from our members and Board members and thank the bench and the bar for their support of this event.
On April 19th, NOW leadership will attend the Global NOW Summit in Philadelphia centered on best practices for developing NOW at the chapter level. We look forward to sharing what we learn with you in the future.
SAVE THE DATE - Thursday, May 26th - Whiskey Business, a Scotch tasting, education and networking event with NJTMA NextGen.

With the arrival of warmer weather and longer days, it's a great time to put the winter behind us, and spring forward into what is shaping up to be another exciting year for TMA NextGen.
First, NextGen would like to welcome Christopher Hemrick, a member of Connell Foley LLP's financial services and restructuring groups, as the new Co-Chair of the NextGen Committee. He will serve alongside the existing Chair, Keara Waldron of Lowenstein Sandler LLP.
"It is a privilege to join Keara as Co-Chair of the TMA New Jersey NextGen Committee. The Committee is comprised of a tremendously talented group of individuals who represent the 'next generation' of leadership in their respective professions and fields. I am confident together we can continue the growth and success of TMA NextGen in New Jersey, and I am thrilled to be a part of it," Chris said.
2016 NextGen Events
The terrific joint NextGen/IWIRC Food & Beer Pairing Event that took place at Pig & Prince in Montclair on February 24th deserves highlighting. For the second straight year, we had a great turnout for this event and very positive feedback. We hope to make it three in a row next year, so be sure to keep an eye out for this event in 2017!
Please also be on the lookout for these future NextGen events:
On May 26th, NextGen will host "Whiskey Business," our inaugural Scotch tasting, education and networking event with TMA NOW. This event promises to be both fun and informative, so please mark your calendars. We will be in touch shortly with the details!
In July, NextGen will be returning to Pier 13 in Hoboken for its summer networking event. What better way to celebrate the summer!
Finally, NextGen is planning an educational panel and/or new member welcome event to take place sometime in the fall. We will provide more information on this event in the coming months.
