The Annual is here, and welcome to my homeland of the South! It’s finally time to reconnect in person with your fellow TMA members from every chapter around the globe, and in a safe and responsible way. I hope you are reading this as you hang up your favorite Zoom sweatpants and complete your plans to attend The 2021 TMA Annual, October 26-29, in Nashville, Tennessee.
A great deal of anticipation, excitement, and hopefulness surround this conference, and it all results from a lot of hard work from many dedicated individuals. A special thank you to this year’s Annual Planning Committee, co-chaired by Sydney Darling, Adam Crane, Myles MacDonald, and Jennifer Mercer, and also to the stellar TMA staff that never ceases to amaze me every day with what they are able to accomplish.
But just like our organization as a whole, this conference is only as good as its members. As we emerge (hopefully) from this moment in history, a special thank you to you, as members of TMA and as attendees of this conference, for all you have done since the “lockdown.” Although many unknown variables (but hopefully not variants!) still exist, we all are hopeful we have weathered the worst of these unprecedented times (again, hopefully!), and I, for one, expect that the future is especially bright for our industry. As I look around, I believe it is just a matter of “when,” certainly not “if.”
I appreciate that the Journal of Corporate Renewal takes a deep dive into a specific industry, segment, or restructuring issue every month, giving us all newfound expertise at a level we could not enjoy otherwise. This month’s JCR is about family businesses and the unique issues they face. If you represent the interests of a family business, or any entity intertwined with a family business, forwarding them this issue will provide a perfect springboard for you to show not only that you are staying abreast of the issues necessary to help them, but also showing them the power of TMA and how being REUNITED benefits all of our professional, and even personal, lives.
The Opening Reception at The Annual is always one of my favorite industry events of the year. I look forward to being REUNITED with each of you and seeing how we can all work together in the near future.
