Nathan Hoover has joined Kugman Partners as an associate. His experience includes forming and implementing strategy for organizations experiencing transition, including stress and distress; managing complex sale transactions; and supporting C-suite and management teams with the development of sophisticated reporting tools, presentation templates, and financial models. Before joining Kugman Partners, Hoover was a senior financial analyst for kgb, a New York-based private equity fund; corporate treasury analyst for Refinitiv; and an analyst for GE Healthcare.

Teresa C. Kohl, a managing director with SSG Capital Advisors, is among 37 new Fellows being inducted in the 32nd Class of the American College of Bankruptcy during a ceremony March 19 in Washington, D.C. The college is an honorary public service association of U.S. and international insolvency professionals who are invited to join based on expertise, leadership, integrity, professionalism, scholarship, and service to the bankruptcy practice and their communities. Kohl provides investment banking services focusing on the sale, turnaround financing, restructuring, and complex valuation of middle-market companies facing operational or financial challenges, both in and out of Chapter 11 proceedings, throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Peter J. Roberts and David R. Doyle were among eight attorneys who recently moved to Cozen O’Connor’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring Practice from Fox Rothschild’s Financial Restructuring & Bankruptcy Department. Roberts represents clients in bankruptcies, workouts, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, UCC Article 9 sales, and related litigation. He develops workout strategies, executes plans of reorganization, navigates asset sales, and litigates cases in state and federal courts, where he has extensive trial and appellate experience. Doyle works with financially distressed companies involved in financial or bankruptcy litigation. Doyle’s clients include middle-market debtors in possession, receivers, and asset purchasers, as well as secured lenders and receivers in commercial foreclosure and eviction proceedings.

Pat Scanlon has joined Seattle-based Revitalization Partners as a director and leads the firm’s digital technology practice. He specializes in working with management teams to build value and monetize companies’ digital assets and lines of business. His experience includes 30 years with companies such as USA Today Sports, where he oversaw all online platforms and SaaS infrastructure for the millennial market, to J. Walter Thompson, where he served as the agency’s first director of interactive marketing in Australia and Asia, guiding initial online strategies for the international divisions of Kraft Foods and Ford. Scanlon most recently was an independent consultant in the manufacturing and software sectors.

Rachael L. Smiley has joined FBFK law firm in Dallas as a shareholder. She brings more than a decade of legal experience to her new position, with expertise in all phases of the Chapter 11 reorganization process, including asset sales, plan confirmation, and post-confirmation plan administration. She has litigated a variety of disputes that arise in or are related to bankruptcy cases, such as valuation disputes, claim objections, and avoidance actions. Smiley was previously an attorney at the Dallas-based Chapter 11
boutique firm of Ross & Smith.

William Stapel has been named co-leader of Fifth Third Bank’s Asset Based Lending Group, along with Greg Eck. Stapel has more than 30 years’ experience in the banking and asset-based finance industry. The two lead teams of professionals who provide asset-based lending services to companies across the U.S., from small and midsize businesses to large corporations and global enterprises. The company provides financing for acquisitions, dividend recapitalizations, growth, debt restructurings, and turnarounds.

Brent Worthy has joined BDO USA’s Business Restructuring and Turnaround Services practice, with a primary focus on covering the Southwest regional markets. He has more than 15 years of experience in corporate restructuring, M&A strategy and execution, and digital finance transformation spanning numerous industries, including technology, media, telecommunications, energy, automotive, life sciences, gaming & casino operations, manufacturing, and defense contracting. Worthy holds an MBA from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and a finance degree from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
