There truly isn’t enough space to list all the accomplishments CHRIS Horvay has achieved as a member of the TMA as well as his contributions to the corporate renewal industry and his legal profession.
Chris took on a leadership position with the TMA since its inception and became the Chicago/Midwest Chapter’s 5th president in 1997-98. It is not uncommon for past presidents to “ride off into the sunset” but for Chris, that was never an option. After he completed his term, he continued to serve in a variety of leadership roles every year thereafter.
From 1999 to 2002 Chris served as a Director for TMA Global. From 2003 to 2005, he was a Director for the Chicago/Midwest Chapter and also served as a co-chair of the Continuing Education Committee and in 2004 he was recognized as the Educator of the Year by the TMA. In 2006 and 2007 he served as Parliamentarian of the Chapter and in 2009 he was co-chair of the Special Programs Committee – the year the Chapter welcomed its first Executive Speaker Forum Speaker, former President George W. Bush. Since 2012, Chris has served on the Scholarship Foundation Board and has been its president for the past three years.
In addition to his TMA leadership, Chris has held a stellar career for over 36 years and is currently engaged at Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Hammer. Mr. Horvay has represented senior creditors and asset-based lenders in complex litigation, workout and bankruptcy matters across the country. His practice also involves the representation of asset-based lenders in the documentation of complex loan transactions and litigation disputes as well as the representation of creditor committees and liquidation trustees in litigation relating to fraudulent conveyances. Chris has consistently been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer since 2006, as well as an Illinois Leading Lawyer for the last two years in commercial bankruptcies and workouts.
On behalf of the TMA Chicago/Midwest Chapter and the entire corporate renewal industry, we are proud to honor Mr. Christopher J. Horvay with this year’s Legend Award.
