Each year, the chapter hosts a Past President’s dinner and this year it was held on Wednesday, November 16. The guest list includes all the past presidents since the chapter’s inception in 1991 under the leadership of Melanie Rovner Cohen as well as the current chapter president and the new incoming president. For me, as the Chapter Executive for the past 15 years, it is like a class reunion. It is my Super Bowl because I get to an enjoy an evening in a room filled with nothing but champions. Volunteer leaders who all, in their own way, left a permanent foot mark on your award-winning chapter. Their stories are varied as are all their leadership styles but there is one thing consistent: their passion for the chapter and the industry.
For the incoming president, it is a unique opportunity to not only meet new faces but to learn from the best of the best. The exciting part about this annual event is that it continues to grow in attendance as the chapter continues to flourish and welcome new leadership. The succession planning efforts of the chapter leadership is impressive and has a direct correlation why your chapter is so successful. As members of this organization, you should know that the legacy that has been built over the years by the past presidents does not go unnoticed by our future leaders. It’s a wonderful circle and I encourage all of you to consider getting involved so that someday you, too, will join us at the table.
